History of Temple

KaaliAmman temple is more than 1000 years old. This temple belongs to chalukiyas period.Kaali means destroying the evils. She destroyed the sister of vakra suran demon. So the people say VakraKaali. She is wearing a child as a ring in the right ear and the left ear is in normal. The Amman is placed in the kupphera moolai(north side). So, she is having a lot of power. She fulfill all the wishes of people. She is the guardian of kodambakkam, nallankuppam, jafferkanpet, saaligramam, old mambalam, K. K. Nagar, M. G. R.Nagar. so the call her Yellai Kaali.People believe that she is protecting them from chlora, chicken pox and many other disease by drinking the water(Abisheka theertham).

Stalavriksham

The stalavriksham here is the neem tree(Veppa maram) and arasa maram. For many generations there has been a strong belief that their wish fullfilled by tide thread around the neem tree and arasa tree on Fridays(Before Raaghu kaalam).The women who want to get married they will tide a yellow thread(thali) around the veppa maram and arasa maram.The women who pray for children they will do pradakshinas around the temple and stalavriksham(Veppa maram & Arasa maram) before sun rise
